MASTER of Moulins

Anne de France, Wife of Pierre de Bourbon

1498-99
Panel, 157 x 63 cm
Cathedral, Moulins

This is the right panel of the Moulins triptych. The picture represents Anne de France, wife of the donator, Prince Pierre de Bourbon II. She was the daughter Louis XI, King of France. Behind Anne is standing her patron saint, while her daughter Suzanne is praying together with her. The detailed elaboration of the fabrics shows the influence of Flemish painting.
